those pre-final blues

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

because it is the semestral finals season once again, I’m doing ‘this’ kind of post.

(i just observed that it has become some kind of a yearly thingy for me. Somehow, I because immune to the b*llsh*t)

– A new family member is disturbing me and we were fighting over the keyboard! This was what he typed: “[[[[[[[[[[[344444nnnnnnnnnn555555555555″ I’ll introduce him to you guys later :)

But at least this time, I was not the only one who felt this. Ngayon nga, medyo immune na ako eh.

You see, almost all of our requirements this sem requires group effort. And I have observed that everytime this happens, two kind of people surely surface: those who will wholeheartedly make an effort to finish the project, and those who’ll depend on the the first kind of people.

Because something is wrong with my personality, I always find myself in the first kind of people.

It is kind of unfair on our part, really. Imagine sharing the same grade as with those people in the ‘2nd kind’.

I was spending more time with Bangge and Cess lately since we were editing the final output for our Broadcast Journ and Sports Journ CLASS projects.

Sa totoo lang, awang awa na ako sa kanila dalawa (and also my Novia) kaya I found it hard to leave them with jobs (and I suddenly found myself volunteering for some viddy editing works). The class would definitely be in sooo much trouble without those two crazy beings.

Ang nakakatuwa lang, kahit na may mga tao na walang kwenta, makikita mo parin yung unity in class:

I was on my way to meet Cess because we’ll do the OBB (the intro part on those TV programs) for Sports Journ today when I saw Val’s Filipino Journalism  broadsheet editing team in from of the AMV building:

team: Aika! uno tayo sa filjourn!
aika: asteeg! and galing nyo!
team: musta na yung broad at sports?
aika: yung broad ok na, natapos na namin kaninang 4a.m., ipapasa nalang. Yung sports, gawa kami OBB ngayon.

Gets? I was touched when I felt the unity there. Sweet lang.

Cess, Bangge and I even thought while editing the final output for broadjourn last night “Sigurado bukas, andaming 4JRN1 na pupunta sa school na walang tulog!”

True enough.

Wala lang. Di ko lang kasi maintindihan yung mga klase ng tao na walang pakialam sa mga projects. Yung tipong ‘I’ve done my part. the end’ kind of people. A little ‘what else can i do?’ wouldn’t hurt because it is in fact their grade that’s on the line.

O baka naman ako lang talaga ang may ugali na ganon. Shet, stepping stone ko yun sa pagiging social worker.

Well at least I am proud of how my parents raised me – others oriented *awww*

And at the end of the day, ok na sakin yun.

At least I’ll die knowing how to use Adobe Premier Pro 2.0, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemakes and I can edit a freaking movie!

And at least I am learning (super! andami ko nang natutunan kena Bangge at Cess at Vera! lalo na kay Vera! hahaha!). To learn – in the first place – is what schools are for, right?

———

Ok, I went home this morning from editing at 4. I was walking at our family room when I heard a cat talking (read: meow-ing)!

Then, I saw a little black kitty near my feet. Tapos he was not scared of me at all. As a matter of fact he was soooo sweet. He was making lambing with my feet. He was extremelly adovavol!

Tapos I was kneeling pa in order to play with him, what he did was he climb in my lap! Aww!!

After four generations of kitties here at home, my mom decided not to keep any more kittie. We’ve been kitty-less for almost 8-6 years now. So I though that my mom would definitely not allow him here. So I bid the kitty goodbye :(

Tapos, after I rested, I was on the kitchen preparing to go out when my mom said “Asan na kaya yung kuting?” then I suddenly remembered the little black kitty “Ay! di mo pinaalis?”

mom: “hindi, ako nga nagpapasok nun eh. Nakita lang daw yun dun sa mga semento, niligaw ata, tapos nakita ko nalang pumasok na dito sa bahay, eh ang lambing, di ko na pinaalis”

AWWWW!!!!

The kitty is now sleeping on my lap while I blog this.

My brother named him Milky. See the irony? He named him after our very first kitty.

DH blues

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Super late na ‘tong post na ‘to, but I love Desperate Housewives so much, so I gotta blog about this.

If you are watching news regularly (unlike me. sorry naman, pang-gabi pasok ko eh), you would have already heard that Susan (Teri Hatcher), made a not-so-good-remark about Filipino doctors on their season four premier. (watch it here)

I was so disappointed by that remark because, as I have said, I lurve DH so much. I am not a doctor, obviously, and my life is not going anywhere near that direction, but I found that statement way too insulting for Filipino doctors, especially since I have friends who are studying in really competent med schools – and are killing themselves just to graduate.

Those writers should earn some med degrees first before having the right to say such statements. Sila kaya ang mag-doktor.

What were they thinking in airing that lines? Some people found it funny (because, according to them it was supposed to be a joke), but put yourselves on the Filipino doctors’ shoes naman. You guys found that funny because you guys where not the ones insulted.

But then again, after all the things that Filipinos had been through, would we still be affected by some statement – that obviously didn’t require some brains to make – which was aired for some good 8 second?

We could just prove these people wrong. Then we’ll happily watch them eat their words (or script).

And ABC already made an apology. Would that be enough for you?

Again, this only proved one thing: never ever anger any sector in the Filipino community. remember Malu Fernandez? Hehe.
